Classified by structure:
Combination Transformer (American Box Transformer): It integrates a step-up transformer, high-voltage full range fuse, load switch, low-voltage switchgear, and corresponding auxiliary equipment, with a compact structure, suitable for wind farms with limited space.
Prefabricated substation (European transformer): It adopts two types: ring network type and terminal type, with lower radiation than American box transformer. It can also be equipped with distribution automation, but generally has a higher price.
Classified by cooling method:
Oil immersed self cooling and oil immersed air-cooled
Classified by voltage regulation method:
Non excited voltage regulating transformer: There are several intermediate taps left on one side of the winding of the transformer. The effective turns of the winding can be changed by switching the tap changer, thereby changing the voltage ratio and achieving voltage regulation. However, power off operation is required during voltage regulation.
On load tap changer: It can adjust the voltage under load and is suitable for wind farms with frequent and large voltage fluctuations.
Classified by iron core form:
Three dimensional coiled iron core transformer: It has the characteristics of small size, light weight, easy installation, low noise, low loss, anti-theft, high overload capacity, and simple maintenance, and is suitable for space limited places such as wind farms.
Traditional stacked iron core transformer: mature technology, low cost, but relatively large volume and weight.
